Two Detentions Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident
An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.
A 24-year-old man, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.
The arrests follow a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.
A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.
Officers detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.
Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.
The attack - which police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
