A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a challenging season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term trainer Cervara.

Now training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after March of 2023.

The win also indicates he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.

The player's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.

However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.

Both players swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden professional victory, took control to force a final set.

Moutet defended 4 initial opportunities in a tight third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, he clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
